Free Arts NYC provides under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential.

The moment you meet the children in our programs it’s clear they’re clever, curious, exuberant, and have enormous potential. Step outside, and you’ll also see the enormous challenges they face – including poverty, neglect, abuse, and neighborhoods where gangs, drugs and violence are daily realities.

Free Arts offers under-served children the opportunity to rise above these challenges, and our results are visible far beyond the artwork they create. In addition to learning how to positively express themselves, children also develop the skills, resources and resiliency they need to realize their fullest potential:

• Free Arts children show statistically significant growth in positive behaviors and attitudes that make them less likely to drop out of school, use drugs or join gangs;
• 97% of children in our programs believe that when they grow up they’ll be able to accomplish the things they set out to do; and
• 99% of children in our programs believe they’ll grow up to do things that are important
